Mills Recruitment is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join our client’s team on a 12-month contract with the possibility of permanency for the right candidate in Perth. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a reputable consultancy delivering structural engineering services across Mineral Processing, Renewables, Non-Process Infrastructure (NPI), and Commercial sectors.
About the Role
You’ll be working across multiple Mining, Renewables, and NPI projects, ranging in duration from a few days to several months. This is a technical, hands-on role – not a management position – and ideal for an engineer who enjoys variety and fast-paced project environments.
Your Responsibilities:
- Structural design in reinforced concrete and structural steel
- Work on brownfield and greenfield projects
- Perform peer reviews, design checking, and calculation reviews
- Prepare and mark up engineering drawings for drafting
- Use tools like Space Gass, Strand7, MathCAD, and Microsoft Office
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers
- Convert proposals/quotes into detailed internal scopes of work
- Report directly to the Engineering Manager and Director
Key Requirements
We are looking for a hands-on engineer with a solid background in mining-related projects, who is ready to hit the ground running across a variety of dynamic and challenging works.
- Minimum 8 years engineering design experience
- At least 5 years of structural design experience on Mining Projects
- Minimum 3 years experience on Australian Projects, familiar with local codes and practices
- CPEng status preferred
- Perth-based or able to relocate quickly (timeline to be advised in application)
- No sponsorship available – must have full working rights in Australia
